Dawnlark Plains peonies

she huffed even as the woman offered her the prize, before remembering well-instilled manners and uttering a quick  "tha' oo," she plopped onto her rear, dragging her feather close as examining it carefully, tail wagging as she noted the sheen of it. "birb!"  she cried, remembering a previous lesson from another adult as to where they came from. she wondered if the birb would be back for it, and concern had her tail still and her face tilt back as she surveyed the sky, where birbs surely lived.
