Sleepy Fox Hollow inner moonlight

a low sound; mona turned to see a wolf cloaked in spilled ink and moonglow, verdant gaze trained on the cardinal. transfixed by the fierce appearance of the she-wolf, the mayfair paused and then began an affable approach. the other had given her no reason to fear, and the girl was fascinated. 
when she had drawn close enough, mona gave a gentle wave of her scarlet plume. with distance still between them, she did not speak, but gathered the details of the woman she had decided was some sort of warrior. with luck, a story or two would come from this meeting. and so for now she was quiet, waiting to see if the other would welcome her company beyond a glance.
