the northern lands sure were different than what he was used to. it didn't matter how he trekked, or where he managed to spend the night; buck knew he wasn't home anymore. it was obvious in the way that he didn't know how to step quietly. if cortland was hyper-aware of the pack wolves who were nearby, he would have had to have been deaf and blind to miss the lumbering coonass who was plowing through the brush.
surprisingly enough, buck happened across the other male after only a short while. of course, he hadn't been expecting it. the sight of the pale form was enough to cause the brute to leap out of his skin. hissing, buckshot curled a lip and shook his head dramatically at the fella he'd happened upon. "shoo-ey, ya dun gimme de heebie jeebies, you," he sputtered without grace. this stranger was the first that buck had happened upon since arriving in the teekon wilds.
