Alpine Lake then there was darkness

A snake appeared, but not one with a plump waist or a good looking dinner. They were like ice, thin and tasteless, the only thing that held up the possible meal before them, was the life that held on. They cocked their head, and the beast narrowed their site on the prey that spoke before them. They finished last of the rat, but it did not quench the hunger. 

A question, that they did not know of. Its been too long since they heard a meal speak proper words, ones that weren't of agony and screams. But the cold snake before them, did not look appetizing enough to feast upon. Then would they provide adequate entertainment? In the end, it's up to fate if they enter the abyss of desire.

"Hunger." A single word was all that defined the beast. They were a glutton; a desire to fill the void from within. The frothed from the mouth, the strong feeling of a need to devour held strong. They wanted to feast and fill themselves, but the one before them did not look at all appetizing.  Though maybe, they could be the dinner they desire.
