Summer was a season of no rest. Busy critters scurried from side to side, collecting food or searching for mates--either way everyone had something to do when the scorching rays of the afternoon sun danced across the Teekom Wilds. Everyone but Maera Sveijarn. While her older sister Jökull was getting an increasing popularity among the members of the creek, the red hair girl was content spending her days at the back of the den, napping and sharing her body heat with her mother or Lárus.

So far the only face outside her family she had seen was Bazi's, and that was because she had literally poked her face into the den. If not Maera would most probably continue with her life as a hermit. She had only been outside the walls of the den once or maybe twice;when she had tried to escape --only to be intercepted by the snow coated Beta-- and when she had found a mound of mud by the entrance of her home. It was sad truly that a girl so young was isolating herself of the wonders of he outside.

But her laziness was stronger than her willpower.
And while most young girls dreamed of being princesses, Maera had the pleasure of already being one. She was Sleeping Beauty reincarnated into a wolf pup's body;she was beautiful like a true princess and had her own castle and servants who brought her food.

It was perfect! All she had to do was summon their attention with a single cry of her lips and she'd have all kinds of delicacies placed at her feet. That's why she spent most of the afternoon snoozing carelessly while her siblings got a peek of how wonderful life outside was. Occasionally she'd be roused from her bed and forced to get a bit of sunlight, though when the time was right she got up on her own --a bitter sweet accomplishment because when she was up and about she was almost unstoppable. She would go on a wrecking rampage around the den, gnawing on everything and everything until it either broke or complained. (Lárus)
