The water was slowly numbing her skin, but Ptarmigan did her best to ignore it. The water gently lapping at her flanks was comfortable in a way. She glanced back at Red, who had slipped over in the grass, presumably making herself comfortable. The dark female spent only a few moments longer in the water, then began wading back to the shore, only now taking time to look at the aspen forest closely.

If someone asked, the Endore might say it was a beautiful scene. There was nothing extraordinary about it, yet it was still a good looking forest. She sought Red's gaze and saw the hybrid shaking with light giggles. The other's good mood was infectious, and Ptarmigan found herself grinning back despite the chill of her legs.
