Slavik was completely and fully embarrassed, but the girl seemed to think it was funny. Her laugh was sweet, almost like a song. The embarrassment on his face melted to something softer, almost fonder. He had had plenty of crushes, but this was a different kind altogether. This was like how he’d felt with Vea, the first girl he’d ever kissed. Since then he and Speedy had shared many affectionate licks, but they were quite the same.
