He considered the wolf’s words, a sideways glance given as the dark she-wolf that had come from the Plateau efficiently made her exit. The members of his eyes then focused fully on the wolf before him, withholding a scathing comment that it was time to end the harassment of his pack mates. Hormones riddled the air as of late—it was no wonder Mahler’s lovesick hound had found his way here, or that tension coiled throughout.

“He’s persistent. I’ll give him that,” he rumbled in return as his tail gave an idle lash behind him. Mahler had never been a wolf of many words—but he had been an asset, and so the Mayfair took from this what he could—thus far, he knew this unknown pack to be made up of two large males, one stubborn with his wants, and the other whom had been an asset to the creek prior to his leave.

“If he continues, I’ll have to make an example of him. Surely you understand?” If it had been a creek male snooping around whichever land Mahler and his hound had claimed, he would expect the same reaction.
