Upon the earth's growth from the end of dusk, the sun began to rise and fortify its creatures above. The long tendrils of grass swaying calmly in the breeze with birds chirping, squirrels chattering and the occasional deer bleating - it was peaceful almost as much as it was beautiful. This day was young and it had a lot of time on its hands, just as one spritely individual had a lot of things in mind for the day and nothing at all.
Through the quiet came the raging and thundering paws as he raced through the grass at full speed. Winding this way and that purposefully as though he was getting more air this way than simply standing still. Woohoo! He shouted freely, pushing through the grass purposefully.
It had been so long since he had felt more or less free, while still understanding that there was always danger lurking somewhere. Roscoe just couldn't afford to think like that and he didn't want to live in fear of what might come after him or what someone could do to him. So he made the executive decision to frolic wildly and to his heart's content, eager to simply make his way wherever the sun took him.
While he was free and usually pretty observant, he wasn't a very good listener - so when his charging almost landed him straight into a fast moving current of water he quickly skidded to a halt with his golden eyes wide and surprised. Well then. He huffed, taking a few steps back and staring at the water that had now put a devastating halt to his freedom. What now?
