The past couple of hours Ulysses has been walking through the dim Everwinter Forest. The leaves and twigs crunch beneath his massive weight as he weaves around the thick tree trunks. The canopy above him thick enough to hardly let any sunshine through, but just a ways up ahead he's able to see a clear field. At this distance he sees glowing rays of sun shining over the small, of even there at all, rolling hills of the plain.
After a while longer, he finally makes it to the edge of the thick, wooded treeline. His silvery white eyes take in the scenery around him the sky is mostly devoid of any clouds, making it a beautifully sunny day. Eyes flick around, eyeing the colors of flowers littered around the area, they seem to be thriving in the slightly warmer weather.
Ulysses languidly struts away from the safety and coverage of the tree line, keeping eyes on the horizon just in case. His larger than average ears swivel at the noise of hearing a voice. He stops dead in his tracks, there's someone nearby. It seems like he freezes, body on another level of alert.
Urging his stiff muscles to move, the wolf-dog gives the air a sniff, he vaguely gets the scent of another through the light breeze that blows the leaves and blades of grass. He scouts, he can't help himself from being so on edge for every little thing. Then at last, he spins around and his eyes land on something, or more likely a someone. Ulysses' ears perk up, they stand towards this anonymous wolf he's never met before. Then they press to his skull, he can't get complace now.
This someone is another wolf. They're romping around in the grassy field of flowers without a care in the world. By the looks of it, they're a smaller wolf, he could easily dwarf them. Their coat is a honey yellow just as the sun and they have a gleeful smile spread across their muzzle that really did resemble some of the purest joy he's seen in a while. He's almost jealous, he hasn't felt such a feeling for as long as he can remember.
This stranger wolf is bouncing around, a real pep in their step, and all Ulysses can do is stand there dumbly and watch. He finds it slightly humorous. The scenery is nice and the fact that someone else is enjoying it just as much as he is, is amazing. As this stranger bounces along the field, pollen flies all around them, they're kicking up grass and flowers alike. Again, Ulysses can only find himself staring.
