Shadewood personal space invader

the newest addition to their family den did little to bother deku. while he may have been a soft boy – tender in most things – he was surprisingly steadfast in the face of the unknown. he had already transitioned through gaining his sight and hearing up to full capacity. the bi-colored child was almost a month old already, and he had learned so much in his short time on earth. one thing that was not sated was his desire to learn and discover the things he was unfamiliar with.
 
when orochi approached on stubby limbs, deku turned his attention toward his brother. his ears were drawn forward and stood perfectly tall – almost comically – atop his pale crown. his head tilted to the side with fascination at the new member, but he was not ready to be so close to the other boy. as orochi approached him, hellbent on causing havoc, deku tried to wiggle himself away.
 
it didn’t work well enough. orochi was faster than expected and before anything could be done about it, had scooped up deku’s paw in his mouth and had started to chomp down on it. the starchaser might have been small, but his reaction was very large. throwing his head back and parting his lips, deku released a mighty cry throughout the den. once he had finished, he ripped his paw free of the other pup’s mouth and rose to stand with furrowed brows.
 
“hey!” he exclaimed in a soft voice.
