Beyond that, Bazi's claim to leadership by default was terribly weak at best, although he supposed it would appeal to those few among them who would actually miss Fox. The plush white female couldn't have been expected to accept the role assuredly, partially due to her age and the inexperience that went along with it, and partially due to the fact that Razo imagined it had been difficult for her to do what needed to be done. She'd already proven herself worthy in that respect, however, by default.

The rest of what came to light—nominating counsellors, Scimitar's rapid ascension and the imminent departure of the entire Sveijarn family—these were all important aspects for the pack to deal with, and to be sure, Razo scrutinised these actively, but he offered nothing except a sharp eye and a firm nod to Bazi. She was well on her way to becoming the leader the pack so deserved, whether she felt it or not.
