so cortez was gone and reif pondered. he thought whilst he roamed, he thought as he added things to his little growing collection of trinkets, he thought the few times he remembered to eat. his brain never stopped whirring away. change didn't sit well with reif, he followed very set routines and bumps in them caused him great upset so it was absurd that he was suddenly so fascinated by the idea of leaving- of unhoming as he had continued to call it since he'd watched cortez leave- or more like drift. that was the thing, the man had looked lighter as he left their home. he couldn't tell you why, he didn't really understand it but it'd definitely been there. something about his steps, the set of his shoulders. it intrigued him, as did the idea of discovering what lay beyond this place.
still, it felt more like a daydream to muse on than an actual possibility. for one thing, he knew it was considered serene here and sometimes even the things here got a bit too hectic for him so what would happen out there? he didn't like the idea of that one bit. it also took a bravery he didn't possess and energy too, the mere idea of it tired him out. not to forget that his independence skills lacked strongly. his mamas sometimes tried to spark an interest in hunting but it bored him so he refused to engage in it, as simple as that. he could be really stubborn so they'd eventually given up and he continued to enjoy their deliveries whilst getting to do his own thing undisturbed.
so for now he was content to simply imagine as he lay near stick with its delicate engravements and subconciously picked petals from a stray flower he'd come across. arranging the silky spots of colour to create satisfying designs.
