Whitefish River Consequences

Everything is warm. She blinks and forgets Shige is there, sees him all over again. Shige... There is relief thick in her voice. Saoirse thought she would never see him again; the sight of him lifts a weight from her chest. She tries to lift her head and nuzzle back as his nose brushes her ear, but she can't quite manage.

It takes more effort to understand as he speaks, staring at him for a long, uncomprehending moment. All she really understands is kingdom, he brought them to a kingdom--they were...they were avoiding that, weren't they? There was a reason to. It wasn't...safe. They were in danger. Her face fell from dopey confusion to horror, and she began struggling to rise, muttering all the while. "No...no, no, no, Shige, no, no...
