the boy’s mother had found him, just as he had expected she would. he had apologized profusely to her, saying that it hadn’t been his fault that he’d wandered so far. there was simply too much for him to explore and he had lost track of the time. even more fortunately, wraen had been kind to him and deku already missed the warmth of her apple green eyes. he had never met someone quite like her; someone who was willing to listen to his silly stories about the stars.
 
when the howl sounded from a familiar voice, deku’s ears perked immediately. his pale gaze searched the distance with feverish intent – hoping that he could find the outline of his dark father. with one look to his mother, deku turned and began racing toward the call. his tongue lolled from the side of his mouth as his puppy paws churned against the earth. “daddy!” the starchaser cried as he finally caught sight of issun.
