Since Shadow's been doing a lot of exploring, I thought we could do an outrider thread.. :D

It was becoming apparent to Bazi that the outrider job did not marry well with a leadership role. She was needed at the Creek - at all times, to guard it, fight for it, and inspire the wolves within its borders to do the same. Now more than ever, it was important for the pack to see its leader - to know that she was always there.

She would have to give up exploring.

At first, she refused to acknowledge the need to retool - fond memories of trips across the mountains kept the young Alpha from making it official, and she made lofty, reckless plans to sneak into the forests below Jinx's mountain. But none of them came to pass; in fact, Bazi had scarcely strayed further than Duck Lake in weeks.

It was when she was on the cusp of accepting what needed to be done that Bazi spotted Shadow at the water's edge, munching on a freshly caught fish. He was diligently present at all meetings, but she knew that he frequently crossed the borders - to explore, she presumed, but had never asked. Bazi trotted to join him, tail wagging behind her and dainty features arranged into an expression that suggested an idea was brewing.

"Hey," the pale Northerner called, closing the remaining distance with two graceful leaps. She left several feet of space to signal that she did not wish to have his food, nor interrupt the meal. Instead, she sat down and waited for the morsel already in Shadow's mouth to disappear down his throat before speaking. "So, Shadow.. I've noticed that you make a lot of trips? Where do you go? Have you seen anything worth reporting?"
