Beric had thought the smaller creature would submit, and curl herself into a ball to make herself appear smaller. She did the exact opposite, and instead puffed herself up, trying to make herself appear larger. In his eyes, it was a challenge, one he would meet head on. Her stance was disrespectful, and he growled, moving to try and grab her scruff and forcibly put her in a submissive position. He didn't generally take such a physical action, but in the world of the wolf, an intruder didn't challenge a wolf in his own home. Beric was not into games today, and would not beat around the bush.
