Birds chattered, their beaks relentless in their perfectly tuned wails to one another. As the day progressed, the sturdily built fellow continued his trek along the steady incline of a dirt path. Around him, coniferous trees wafted their branches wide, causing the sunlight to dapple across his pelt, as opposed to the raw glare of an open area. Scents were constantly and subconsciously drawn through his nasal cavities, offering him knowledge on the immediate and sub-immediate areas. Had this been a vast tundra with less to process, he would have been able to process much more. Snow, after all, wasn't incredibly interesting.

Due to the unfamiliar territory about, he was extra cautious. His ivory toes slipped carefully over the ground. The natural litter of sticks, stones and pine cones were dodged as thoroughly as if they were minefields. About a mile ago, he had begun stalking a deer. It was silly to think that he, a lone Buffalo wolf, could overtake a foe such as Bambi's mother, but he was willing to give it a try, nonetheless.
