It was a nest in an overgrown forest, the trees sheltering it from the harsh heat of the season. There were once eggs in it, surely. It had helped bring life into the world.
This was why Alf was wearing it on her head like a hat as she traversed the densely wooded area; all it needed were some flowers woven into it and it would truly be a masterpiece. A masterpiece made of nostalgia and memories, plus a bit of flaking bird feces from its previous occupants.
If Alf was anything, she was silly. One of the silliest old ladies she figured anyone was bound to meet, though truth be told she wasn't too old just yet. She'd lived a long, less than pleasant life in many cases. However, the tawny she-wolf had typically found ways to be optimistic. It was even easier now that she'd cast off her worries about disappointing people; if Alf did, assuming they really cared about her, she'd be able to try and fix it. That was what a good friend had become to Alfhildr; someone who would stand by her even when she screwed up, but wouldn't let her get away with that shit either.
She'd had a few friends like that, but it was far from the norm. Perhaps if she had been appointed more by fate, she'd have grown more as an individual in her youth.
Plucking a flower from the ground, Alf let the nest topple from her head. She would stick it in her fabulous hat, and then continue her journey. Once all the decoration was in place, perhaps the female would rip out ear holes to properly seat the article on her skull. Now that would be an interesting sight.
