"I have to refuse the offer for the hat but a conversation would be nice. Perhaps you would like to keep the nest?" The tilt of his head suggested this wasn't a ploy, which Alf mentally kicked herself for searching for. Trying to locate dishonesty and sarcasm was something useful, but it was a skill Alfhildr couldn't exactly rely on if she was to remain optimistic about the world. "Well, if you insist, I suppose I simply must," The tawny woman let the dramatic flair to her voice drop when she continued, "Though honestly I'd kinda figure anyone would want a hat this cool. You belong to one of the nearby packs, right? There just has to be a pup or something who'd be absolutely overjoyed to have a silly hat on their noggin."

At least the stranger didn't seem to bothered by Alf's behavior, and that made the female smile. This was how Alf had always wanted to handle strangers; an air for the nonsensical and a big grin, even if it might have driven some wolves away. It had taken Alfhildr years to get up the courage to find her own way in the world, and she certainly wasn't going to stop anytime soon.

Even if it got the she-wolf labeled as a bit of a weirdo. At least then it made others underestimate her; this was something Alf finally felt comfortable using to her advantage.
