alamar stays awake even after jaime finally falls into a slumber, the pattering of his heart never ceases—even with the eventual shed of a few quiet tears as he tucks himself in further. ashamed, guilty, and overall, feeling broken in those silent moments.
those tears lead him to sleep, however, and it is far from restful too—the imagery of history creeping upon him, ensnaring him into a repetitive trap. a breath is shuttered, and then, eventually a cold abyss consumes him. but there, he drowns—an eerie noiseless fate.
his nose twitches first, then a paw, and then, his eyes blearily blink open. all he feels in the first moments of waking is warmth and comfort, it is an odd, foregin sensation that alamar finds himself craving more of. so in his half-asleep state, he leans closer.
