Seaside Moors and with precious and royal perfume

When first her mother arrived home, Arcelia was napping soundly towards the innermost reaches of the den; oftentimes she found herself awake in the middle of the night, gazing out the entrance at the moonlight. It was peaceful then, the world speaking in hushed tones—she enjoyed it, truly, even if it sometimes meant she was a tad bit tired during the day. This was the case when her mother called them forward, her ears twitching at the sound but, ultimately, she was not the first to get up. It was only when she heard her mother continue to speak, followed by the voice of her sister, that the hooded child opened a single eye and peered at the two of them—and then her other eye popped open and she lifted her head, spying the peculiar object.

Although last to rise, Arcelia was quick to push herself up to her feet upon spying the Thing. Letting her curiosity get the better of her, she bounded right over to it and prodded the starfish with her nose; her face wrinkled ever so slightly when the smell hit her but it was hardly enough to put her off entirely. She glanced at Solaire, then at their mother, before settling back on the sea star—and, if not stopped, she’d try to grab one of its arms between her little jaws.
