Emberwood the summer of our discontent

She stepped back to allow Mother more space to study. That was what she was doing, Marble assumed, and that elated her. It was good to know someone had the same amount of interest in nature as she did. That someone being her mom made it even better.

Marble leaned forward to get the best view. Every so often she’d give an encouraging chuff, or a little giggle.
