frostbitten grass and patches of snow crunched beneath baron's sooty paws as he stalked into a maze of trees, the wind nearly nonexistent in the cover of the woods. finally; the sharp breeze had stung his ears and nose like a slice from a thorn, to be out in the cold any longer would have been a pain in his ass. the black mercenary headed further in, blinking once or twice as he adjusted to the dimming light. 

seeking a place to rest was risky, baron knew. tired as he was, by putting his walls down, he would open himself up to being caught off guard. he kept his head low and eyes sharp, slivers of bright gold compared to the dull colors of winter. 

ahead, he saw a rocky outcrop, shadows dusting stripes across the forest floor and the stone. perhaps, it would have been a good place to rest- but he caught sight of a little wolf. a deep, annoyed grumble left his chest and he paused in his approach.
