the scent was what called him near enough to hear the words — but it was those words that caught and held him in place. aniruk might have otherwise moved on from the scene. he had no desire for a woman, children. he had no need of those things, though the season called to him as it did every man.

his hackles rippled, and he pursued the source until he came upon the pair of wolves. a hulking grey youth, and a woman who appeared... not all wolf, perhaps. it mattered little.
leave. she does not want you, he called to the other male, and made no move to approach either of them. the violence of the season was distasteful to him, but he would sooner see it turned on himself than an unwilling wolf caught alone in heat.
