tempting fate brought fate out to play with some really big sticks, apparently. a huge pale wolf found viri first, and sent up a howl for back up. viri knew better than to stick around for that — she was already running when the other wolf showed up, looking just as intimidating.

catch me if you can, she thought, darting away and suppressing a laugh. if it seemed like they were getting too far behind, she would slow, giving them a false hope of catching her. she didn't want the game to end too soon.
