How were these little brown slimy things so dumb? The worm like mammals reminded him of the pet ferret his human 'owners' had kept in their bedroom, though they trusted it to not wander far away from the house, lest it have the urge to run away.
Yet the foolish humans were pathetic. Trust.
The ferret had vanished without a trace one night, and had not come in to eat its dinner.
Because it had been dinner for Vector.
The russian had escaped without a hair suspected, on his hide. He had feigned being in the barn with the collie girl and horses, all night. He had gotten away, clean.
Trust.
With gleaming emerald reflectant optics, the man watched the swimming mammals, wondering if they even had a name.
And if he would be rewarded with good meat if he caught one.
The brown woody animals had remained ignorant to his presence, his flare coat camouflaging him well against the fall trees.
