Emptiness took over the left side of Falwasi's body where Dovev had been standing as he trotted away to face the bear, probably going to lure it into the cottonwoods. She took one last look at him, hoping he would stay safe and the bear wouldn't lose her temper because she knew she had been negligent to his well-being by asking him to deal with the creature. She was now grateful that he was there; as much as she wouldn't want to admit it, fighting off a lone wolf at the same time as keeping a cautious eye over the bear would be rather difficult.
Thunder still rumbled over their heads - no rain, but boisterous, crackling thunder. The muscular wolf sat back into her hind legs, ready for the rangy wolf to attack. She had been in a similar situation weeks ago with Scimitar, except then she did not want to fight. Today, her every intention was to draw blood. She looked at him with dangerous eyes, meaning business. He clearly took her lithe physique to his advantage, but he knew not about her velocity and skill beneath.
Without warning, the loner rushed forwards with legs outstretched and mouth open, the fangs showing most definitely aimed at her face. He was fast, closing the distance between them at an alarming rate, but not as rapid as Falwasi. The long limbed wolf turned so that her rear end faced the wolf, and at the last moment she kicked her hindquarters back, aiming a painful blow to his pasty face or boxy chest, hopefully somewhere in between. If her legs were to make contact with his body, his teeth would probably nick her feet, but at least the impact would send him backwards.
