It made her feel like she was spinning, and she opened her eyes to refocus them on her subject. “Ashton,” she repeated, aloud this time. “I am Fox. I live here with my… mate, Peregrine.” Saying his name was incredibly hard, but she managed to force it out somehow. Blink. Blink. Blink. Longer blink.

“Why are you here?” she asked, not realizing she had completely ignored his question in the process. Even know, under the influence, Fox knew the motions that she was supposed to go through.
