The Heartwood In Need of A Home

Kisu woke with a start; the black furball next to him was not what he had expected to open his eyes to. He relaxed after recalling the prior day, though, and slowly stretched his paws outward while yawning widely, pearly white canines showing themselves to the world. He edged himself away from Ame, not wanting to wake her up.

The grey wolf padded over to the carcass, pulling meat free and setting it to the side to make it easier to eat for himself and Ame. Here and there he grabbed a small snack, unable to keep his mouth from not watering excessively.

When he was finished, he sat with a huff and breathed in slowly. Kisu lazily licked his paws and his face free from the blood that stained his fur, blending in with his dashes of rust throughout his fur.
