Maybe if she had been a little bigger or a little stronger, Cthulhu would've turned back and made another pass at the brute's meal. She was conditioned for fear, though, and for once knew better than to press the issue. Even when Kierkegaard stopped pursuing her, the coywolf kept running with the belief that her life would be forfeit if she stopped.
