It was exciting that Pied had found someone, and the black wolf had already decided to do away with traditional rules that only higher ranking wolves could have pups. She thought it to be silly, and she had never liked rules much anyway.

Hawkeye searched Pied's eyes for reactions to what she had said. She wondered if her friend would possibly leave the pack if Kisu refused to stay, but then abruptly wiped the thought away knowing that Pied's loyalty lay with her.
