Her life with the Khalas had not been the lap of luxury by any means, but it had also not been unbearably hard. She worked beside them, learned their mannerisms and their customs, and eventually was given the name Shekhi as part of their clan. She had given six months of her life to the Khalas and had planned on living there for a while longer, though she was certain none of the men in the clan would become her husband. They were too brutal, barbaric, and violent. She wanted a gentler sort of man. "Your betrayal was also to me, tokik. You lured me onto your side and betrayed my trust in you. Do not forget, Kadezj, but I was thrown from the pack for something I did not do."
But in her naiveté she had trusted the wrong man and without all the information, promised herself to his cause. Unfortunately he was right: she wanted to be the better wolf. Justice so desired to live up to her namesake: to be just, righteous, and bring lawful goodness to the unlawful. However, Kadezj had ruined her plans when he had decided, without her knowledge, to challenge Khal Vazyol for the right to lead the Khalas. Because of his inability to plan appropriately, he had lost and they were here, among these strange lands.
Justice scoffed, a harsh sound that came from her throat. "Bloodfang," she sneered, pulling back from him. "You are the exiled ko of a much stronger khal. Your khasar is pathetic, completed by one dead wolf and a woman who wants nothing to do with you."
