Every day, Granite explored a little more. He was growing quickly and the sheer size of his paws alluded to the massive wolf he would become. For now, he was a clumsy lad. Lucky for Granite, puppies bounced back easily. Any bumps or bruises he received didn’t interrupt his expeditions.

Today, a hollowed-out log captured his interest. Its damp, woody smell and dark interior sparked his curiosity. Granite went head-first into the hollow trunk.

“Heelllooooo,” he called. “S’anybody home?”
