The long-legged waif trailed along the vast expanse of land, her sea green gaze roaming the rises and falls that happened across the cliffs. It was impressive, though not the reason that Eos had been drawn to the area. There was something formidable in the great stretch of escarpment, still the scent that lingered in the air – just out of reach – was far more intriguing than anything nature could procure. There was an aroma that was not common for most packs. Eos lifted her muzzle upwards and – past the ever-present smell of sea salt and brine – there was an astonishing abundance of females. On any other day, the trim woman would have moved on, but this land was so very close to the sea. So close to home. Her breath caught in her chest and Eos blinked cautiously at the stretch of cliffs before her, looming like sentinels in the early morning light.
Trailing on lengthy limbs, the loner followed the stretch of rock until it seemed to taper away to a secluded opening. It was heavily marked, drowned in the scent of the sea wolves who called the other side their home. The naiad held her position at the mouth of their pack, her flyaway pelt rising and falling with the gusts that blew in towards the sea.
Karthas had been destroyed many months before. The storm had taken most of their land and several of their members to the water. Those who had been pulled from the island had not returned, and those who had survived did not remain for long in Karthas. Yet, Eos still longed for her home near the cove and the scent of sea salt and brine. The ocean had been her home since birth. She had been alone for long enough. Drawing her slender muzzle upwards, the female parted her lips to call to whoever would find her at their borders. On long legs she swayed against the harsh billowing wind as it rocked her frame from side to side.
