The gentle touch of the dark woman eased his nerves slightly, but it did not loosen his grip on the earth. Suddenly, the cries waned and one bronze eye peeked up to regard the unconscious Junior. Val glimpsed from Lasher to Blue; it was obvious they had been emotionally moved by the young girl's strife.

Even though the whole situation had been frightening, the boy would follow the dark trio towards their home, eager for their company despite the girl's frenetic status.
