She offered him a rare, sardonic smile. "I was just another piece in that game, and left before it ended and took me with it."

Her gaze shifted again, focusing now on the dark, misty horizon of the forest beyond them. ”Forneskja is… a change of scenery. A place to breathe, maybe.” She tilted her head slightly toward him, a small spark of curiosity flickering in her eyes. "What of you?"
