Shame was the only true combatant to pride, and shame came in the form of a plastic yellow tag pierced to her ear.

"Truth is, I was exiled by my own madre." Anger boiled under her skin, a feeling like many small fire ants were crawling and biting her all over. Disgust made her almost spit out the word, as if it tasted of bile.

"What followed after, well you may have to sweet talk me for that." Before she knew it, a low grumble from her stomach made her role her eyes, the only time she took her eyes off of him. If it wasn't for the white patch on her face, then it would have been easier to hide how truly exhausted she was. But unable to blend with her obsidian pelt, the white patch still remained her curse.
