Raven's Watch birds of a feather

Kirain let out a strained laugh at the dark humor of the wolf before her. It seemed, at least for now, that a fight wasn’t imminent, and that realization brought a wave of relief. Confrontation had never been her strong suit, a disadvantage for a lone traveler who often had no choice but to fend for herself.

“As long as you don’t mind…” she murmured cautiously, her voice measured. Slowly, she lowered herself to the ground, mirroring the other she-wolf’s posture. The movement was deliberate, her intention clear: to dispel any lingering tension or hint of threat.

“I’m Kirain,” she added, her voice soft and friendly, though laced with an undertone of caution. “May I ask who you are?”
