As Buffalo gathered himself, Byll fell apart. She shrunk to the earth, melted, obedient and withering. When he had finished speaking, Byll looked to him and licked her chops. "I know of poisons and remedies!" She chimes in, offering one of the ways she might be able to contribute. Byll did not think the fact that she knew of poisons may be disconcerting. Only that it had proven magnificent with her mother when they raided and cursed lands that needed cursing. It thrilled Clarice, her teacher; why would it not thrill this man? Remedies, too, she knew. Had Clarice taught her those? Ah, too distant a memory.

Byll of course did not understand the gravity of the situation. Death, particularly their own, was a topic she did not mull over at great length. She noted her brothers worry and wondered at it, and kept her gaze on her duplicate for the while.
