He was in the eastern forest, as per usual. For the past few weeks Amon had been frequenting the area where his dear brother Donnie had found him, in part hoping not to find anyone, but also sort of... Wishing for something to happen. Maybe if his fool of a brother showed up, they could chat; he could get down to the root of why the old man was so keen on ruining his life. They had been family once - bound by blood, by creed, raised in the same environment and eager - but that had faltered. Whatever semblance of family linked the two of them, it had faded quickly upon Amon's expulsion from the Guard.
He sighed a heavy sigh, and began tracing a route through the trees. His frequent patrols in the area had amounted to a few natural paths being created; his wide body and heavy steps created natural corridors. The forest was frosty today, even under the afternoon sun, and covered in half-melted ice crystals. Everything shined. The trees held stars in their boughs, but Amon did not see this - he traced a route he had walked so many times before, and breathed a billowing puff of white; it was good that Donnie hadn't returned. It was good that the caldera was still safe from the greedy reach of Firebrand Guard, but... Amon firmly believed it would not be for much longer. Perhaps they waited for spring?
