When Scimitar's howl rose up for Shadow, Kaskara paused in her trek around the borderline and went to his side. She followed he and Shadow at a distance, having only come upon them partly into their journey, and watched the silver wolf as he turned his head only slightly this way and that. It was likely that he was studying their territory in case their tension turned into a full-out war, but Kaskara would not allow him to see anything of import. The way to Paar's den wasn't littered with battle plans, so what he saw was no different from what he might remember as a former member of the creek.

When they arrived, the cloying smell of birth filled the air around the den, and Kaskara joined her brother at the tree to observe the silver Roman from afar. Kas found that tidbit of information almost funny, considering she was also part Roman, raised by a wolf whose own family and upbringing was firmly entrenched in the old ways. She had never mentioned this to Shadow, of course, because it would only bring him a sick satisfaction.
