That evening, the Redhawk Caldera was treated to some festive rain. Grimm retreated into the greenery that fringed the the lake, but didn't settle. Instead, teh dark newcomer put her nose to the needle-strewn ground and began to sniff around for some company; orientation was over - she knew where the main caches were, and where to pee - and was now keen to find out who she had thrown her lot in with.
So far, things were looking promising. The pack's Alpha was a stone cold fox (shame about the ironically named wife), and Somnia had been entirely pleasant. But Grimm was still a little lonely, and desperate for a playmate to fill the gap left by her brothers.
The black-and-white girl paced between the trees, pausing occasionally to stare between the trunks. It was getting dark, and she hoped nightfall would drive the rest of the Calderans home.
