Amon was old. In his seven years of life, since his introduction to the ranks of the Guard, he had witnessed and perpetrated such crimes many times; there was a darkness in him now which rose to the surface, as he looked upon Elwood for understanding. The caldera would be in danger if Donnie returned - there was no avoiding the bloodshed that could amount from his arrival. The little family would be snuffed out before it even got a chance, but Amon wouldn't let that happen.
