Osprey shifted closer and made to show there was nothing amiss, but apparently she hadn't caught the meaning behind Saena's posturing. Dante thought he had an idea based off previous actions by the juvenile, and in his mind Blue's pups were far from it. He figured it to be a rank challenge, a test to see what she could get away with now that she had risen in the pecking order. An attempt perhaps to claim her aunt's spot.

He was far from amused, and wrestled with the desire to cow her. Osprey's proximity only made it worse. He wasn't used to being driven by instinct, usually keeping a tight hold on sense and reason. It was getting harder and harder in this situation, though, and though he knew they had not the resources for more children (nor he the capacity) he knew he would have a hard time refusing should she attempt. Luckily she had shown no clear signs.

It was his conviction that Saena's confrontation was a question of rank that prevented him from bowling her over on the spot. If she did not respect Osprey, then it was up to the Gamma to show her she was in the wrong. His intrusion would serve nothing.

He failed to relax, but he couldn't help letting his own side press a bit closer to Osprey's own. Valtyr was noted but ignored for the moment... Nothing personal. Dante's focus was elsewhere at the moment.
