Big Salmon Lake Roses are red

Ignorant of the other predator which lurked so close, Dove was caught by her own reflection and paused to inspect herself. Nothing was out of place, although.. Something felt different. Something was off enough to cause her to worry a bit, and to take more time than necessary to inspect her every inch. Face first, then paws - raised one by one - and then a pirouette, looking to the curve of her haunch and the fine hairs of her tail. Dove was mid-motion when a voice fell upon her ears, simultaneously breaking the stillness and causing her fur to stand on end; she puffed up with surprise, averting her gaze from her vain pursuits in order to watch the stranger.

He was narrow and gawky, dark of fur and unkempt - a true rogue. While that may have charmed her before, something about him did not quite fit, and thus Dove was nervous of him. She was interested in the tall, dark, and handsome variety of men - the same taste her sister had, evidently. This stranger was dark, he was... Kind of handsome (or at least, easy on the eyes), but he wasn't particularly interesting to her. Gaunt and hungry, was more like it.

Hello, She drawled in return, only to step alongside the lake's edge as if he wasn't there at all. Hmph.
