Cicero liked to wander from the den, and it was becoming harder and harder for the pack to contain him and his two siblings, all eager to explore the world, to the den all the time. The pup, two months of age, did not have to wander through the forest long before he came upon other wolves. He stared at the wolves, one on top of the other, not sure what they were doing. For some time Cicero watched, until the one wolf got off the other. They remained close, however.

When he came closer, Cicero wrinkled his nose at the funny scents that lingered on the scene, unaware that it was a private affair he shouldn't have wandered into. "Sees bwuh," he babbled to himself. Then he looked up at the pair of wolves, a big smile on his face, and queried, "What is wolfums?" Maybe they were doing a playfight, but part of Cicero knew it was something more than that. They looked and smelled funny, which roused something inside Cicero that he didn't understand at all.
