He made no answer, mostly because he couldn't remember what a bear was right now and didn't want to admit it, lest he appear dumb again. Not that he knew it but Bazi had the same thought, then quickly pointed out she could no longer carry him. He would have to ride on Scimitar! A little giggle burst out of him and his frail chest puffed with pride, though he deflated a few seconds later.

"No carry no mo?" he echoed in a quiet voice. He felt suddenly bothered by this. Sure, he wanted to be big and smart... but he wasn't ready for this yet. "You kin carry," he tried to insist, pushing himself against Bazi and offering his scruff to her. "I thay tho," he added, because that would make it true, of course.
