Knowing that he was happy meant more than anything else to her, and it always would. It seemed he was content to call the others "Fuzzbutt" for the time being, and she leaned forward to give Dud a lick on the cheek. No sooner had she done so did two of her best friends come to their door. The sight of them lifted her spirits somewhat, and for a moment, the four-legged potatoes were forgotten.

Finley had brought them a red bird (a male cardinal, by the looks of it), and Elwood had tagged along for the ride. Fox was vaguely aware that they had both been by a few times, but she'd only been half-awake for those encounters. Peregrine announced the name for the little red and black smudge, and Fox tipped her muzzle to point at the newly-dubbed daughter, indicating to Finley and Elwood that she'd been named.
