He seemed as happy to have someone recognize it as Aesop was to find someone speaking it, and that would at least bode well for the conversation.

The boy asked if Aesop spoke Greek himself. He smiled, but shook his head. "No, but I love it. I used to know some words, a long, long time ago," he said, gazing at the other with an intensity that was probably a bit inappropriate for the situation. A moment too late, he remembers to reign himself in. Still, in an attempt to save face, he lets his expression slide back into something more indifferent, more nonchalant.
